Area Manager, Teknaf
Location: Cox’s bazar, Bangladesh, Job Type: Temporary, Fixed Term (up to December 31, 2018)

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

To manage Oxfam’s Humanitarian Programmes in Teknaf (Rohingya Refugees in Camp and Host Communities)

The post holder reports to Humanitarian Programme Coordinator, Cox Bazar, Bangladeshstrong>

SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:

Essential

Substantial experience in a similar role – specifically a management position in an insecure environment and/or humanitarian programme management.
Management skills & experience, including line management, management of resources, and ability to challenge, motivate and develop a team through periods of programme change.
Evidence of project cycle management experience, including strategic planning, monitoring & evaluation.
Proven analytical skills and ability to work with others to develop strategy into action and communicating and influencing this to a wider audience.
Representation & advocacy skills – capacity to work effectively with others, interpersonal awareness, able to influence others.
Understanding of & commitment to mainstreaming crosscutting issues in emergencies, such as gender, protection and diversity as well as an active commitment to promoting the interests of marginalized people in all aspects of programme work.
High level of stress resistance, ability to positively influence teams and a well-developed sense of humour.
Sensitivity to cultural differences, and the ability to work in a wide variety of cultural contexts.
Excellent written & spoken English; good communication skills.
Capacity to explain complex issues in simple & relevant terms.
Numerate & computer literate.
Trustworthy, reliable, honest & accountable.
Commitment to Oxfam’s mission, aims & objectives.
Desirable

Professional experience in related sectors (WASH and Public Health in Emergencies, emergency Food Security and livelihoods, and humanitarian Protection programming).
Experience of policy and advocacy; production of policy documents or similar.
Motivational skills; training or capacity building skills
Ability to speak in Chittagong local language.
