Under the direct supervision of Programme Manager (Environment and Resilience), and the overall supervision of Head of Sub Office, the successful candidate will provide necessary technical and operational support to programming in Cox’s Bazar that fall under the UN inter-agency Environment and Energy Technical Working Group (TWG).
The incumbent will be assigned to the following tasks:
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Manager, assist in the development and implementation of IOM’s projects on energy and environment; support coordination of activities with the Environment and Energy Technical Working Group (TWG) with a focus on environmental protection, identification of alternative fuel solutions, provision of energy services, livelihoods promotion and forestry-related activities;
Assist the Programme Manager with financial monitoring of programme expenditures against budgetary limitations, in particular as they relate to implementing partners; in coordination with the Resources Management Unit, review financial and progress reports of implementing partners and recommend fund transfers, as necessary;
Monitor progress of work through regular reviews, field visits and evaluations in accordance with work plans and established risk management frameworks; propose and follow up on measures to remedy problems in implementation and suggest ways to adjust projects to evolving contexts and risks;
Assist the Programme Manager to coordinate with key government stakeholders at the Cox’s Bazar level on environment and energy issues in general and project related issues in particular; assist coordination with relevant actors, including relevant IOM sector leads and technical working groups, on issues relevant to environment and energy and coordinated approaches and modalities of implementation at all times;
Maintain strong and collaborative relationships with UN partners in the framework of promoting alternative fuel solutions;
Lead / contribute to community engagement and consultations processes related to energy and environment projects, establish criteria and mechanisms for beneficiary selection, and facilitate integration of project activities in feedback mechanisms; ensure adherence of project activities with principles of conflict sensitivity and accountability to affected populations at all times;
Collect and synthesize information on key issues and developments on Environment and Energy in the context of the refugee response; participate in evaluation of project development opportunities that address environmental and energy challenges of affected populations;
Provide quality control of training and community mobilisation efforts around Energy and Environment issues; identify lessons learned and good practice to inform IOM’s global practice on environmental protection and disaster risk reduction in displacement contexts;
Build and maintain relationships with target beneficiaries, vulnerable groups and community leaderships in the affected population, including host communities;
Identify opportunities for livelihoods and risk reduction interventions;
Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

শিক্ষাগত যোগ্যতা
Master’s degree in Environment Studies, Energy Studies, Human Geography, Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change Adaptation, Development Studies, Social Science, Natural Resources or a related field from an accredited academic institution,
Or
University degree in the above fields with two years of relevant professional experience;

Experience managing projects related to livelihoods, environment and natural resources management and energy required;
Experience with volunteer coordination and community mobilization/social cohesion activities in crisis contexts desirable
Familiarity with conflict sensitivity frameworks and resilience-based approaches preferable
Experience in Cox’s Bazar and with refugee populations desirable
Experience with renewable energy desirable
