The Role
This position is responsible to Plan and organize site-level Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) and Community Management of Acute Malnutrition in Infants (C- MAMI) Programmes. The role-holder will also plan and organize Outpatient Therapeutic Program (OTP) in liaison with the Nutrition Program Manager, ensure quality services are provided for beneficiaries of the Nutrition Programmes, ensure CMAM beneficiaries are referred to IYCF services, and vice versa, when required, ensure adequate triage / that new arrivals are seen as a priority, ensure cases not meeting admission criteria return home as early as possible and ensure the parent/caregiver understands why their child is not admitted, ensure that appropriate referrals take place to and from the OTP/SFP, liaise with the Community Mobilisers/Maternal Child Health and Nutrition Promoters to provide effective follow-up of all cases – and particularly ensure the prompt tracing of children who are absent from the program; organise specific children to be followed up as required (newly enrolled children, sick children, long-stay children, children not gaining weight, children with social problems etc.), ensure routine and essential drug are available and properly distributed for the care centers and ensure proper community mobilization through the local governance structures. The roll-holder will represent the nutrition team in regular camp coordinating meetings and share updates to Programme Managers.
Qualifications and experience
Minimum bachelors in Public Health / Nutrition/food science or in other relevant field;
Minimum four years working experience with two-year experience directly related to emergency health & nutrition related fields;
Experience of emergency nutrition work (preferably IYCF/CMAM) and implementation of feeding programs, including monitoring and evaluation;
Experience in conducting nutrition assessments and an understanding of nutritional surveillance and information systems;
Ability and willingness to frequently travel and stay at the field;
Fluency in written and spoken English. Speaking local languages is a plus;
Computer literacy.
Contract length: 06 months with possibility of extension depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
