The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world’s leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Bangladesh since 2013. In 2017, in response to the Rohingya influx, DRC are preparing to launch an integrated program of support to the government in site management, shelter/NFI and protection. As a key part of this, DRC opened up a main office in Cox’s Bazar, and a support/liaison office in Dhaka.
The Child Protection Assistant’s primary function is to ensure quality project implementation of Case-management services for children vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, neglect and violence and support the implementation of case management responses in the field. He/She is responsible to oversee a team of case workers and volunteers at the field level. Ensuring that all children harmed or at risk of being harmed are identified and receive individuals case management support by engagement with community structures, conducting assessments, actions plans, direct services provision, referrals and follow ups for an assigned case load of children. S/He will provide support to families in the process of case management, including foster and alternative care.
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
H/She in collaboration with community case workers will conduct all steps of the case management process: case intake, assessment and engagement, case planning, supported referrals, developing practical skills, case review, building client capacity.
Conduct daily visit to the alternative care placements (foster families) and assess the needs and provide ongoing support to families, foster and alternative care systems.
Ensure updated filing and documentation of CP cases in line with guidelines
Input the CPIMS on a daily/weekly basis
Provide individual basic psychosocial support to children and their care givers. Determine the need for therapeutic psychosocial or psychiatric support for further referral to specialized services.
Working with ‘at risk’ young people, their families, community, and Elders to actively reconnect young people to family/caregivers where appropriate.
Directly communicate effectively with other caseworkers and service providers as part of conducting individual case management.
Regularly attend case management meetings at field level.
Make sure that all Child Protection interventions adhere to protection standards and principles as well as DRC guidelines and accountability standards
Contribute to the daily quality implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Child Protection related projects and interventions in area of jurisdiction
About you
To be successful in this role we expect the following:
Required
High School (O/A level)
Minimum of two - three years experience working with vulnerable communities, basic needs and distribution programming experience, and/or advocacy programs.
Experience in protection interventions in line with Refugees operation
Preferable experience of working with UN or Non‐Governmental organizations.
Good communication skills and ability to conduct training and awareness
Computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word)
Fluency in Bangla & English
Desirable
Chittagong dialect/Rohingya

Contract length: We offer 6 months contract with extension dependent on performance and funding
