A Correspondent, Cox’s Bazar:
Eid gifts were distributed upon 341 Rohingya children in the refugee Camp of Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, on the 3rd of June, 2024. The gifts were distributed as part of the Child Sponsorship Program (CSP), a collaborative effort between the international donor organization Human Concern USA and the NGO Sushilan.
The program was inaugurated by Camp Incharge Nikhat Ara. Each gift packet was curated to include essential educational materials such as school bags, water bottles, and umbrellas, alongside attire tailored for the festive occasion – shirts, pants, shoes for boys, and frocks, pajamas, scarves, and shoes for girls. Additionally, nutritious biscuits and dry cakes were distributed to ensure the children’s wellbeing.
The ceremony, held at the Durbar Hall of Rohingya Camp-4 in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar, was graced by the presence of notable figures including Masum Mahbub, CEO of Human Concern USA, and Global Director of Human Concern USA Iftekhar Sheikh Ahmed. Among the attendees were Mustafa Bakuluzzaman, Managing Director of Sushilon, Accounts Officer Md. Delwar Hossain, along with project field facilitators and volunteers.
The sheer joy on the faces of the children as they received their gifts was palpable, and their heartfelt thanks echoed through the camp. Expressing their gratitude, they lauded the efforts of Sushilan and the generosity of the donor organization Human Concern USA.
During the ceremony, representatives of the donor organizations took the opportunity to inquire about the children’s education and healthcare needs, reaffirming their commitment to continue supporting them in the future.
This noble initiative not only brought smiles to the faces of Rohingya children but also served as a reminder of the power of compassion and collective action in bringing joy to those in need.
