Dhaka: Nearly 22 months after his arrest, Nagarik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna was released from jail on bail on Sunday.
Manna walked out of Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj around 6:45 pm after the bail order had reached the jail, senior jail super of the jail Jahangir Kabir told UNB.
Nagarik Oikya leaders and activists and his family members received Manna at the jail gate.
On November 28 last, the Supreme Court upheld a High Court order that granted bail to the Nagarik Oikya convener in two cases.
Manna was picked up by law enforcers from Baridhara in the city on February 24, 2015.
He was arrested after two audio clips of his telephone conversations with BNP leader Sadeque Hossain Khoka and another unidentified man were leaked.
The two cases were filed against him with Gulshan Police Station on February 24 and March 5 last year on charges of provoking the army and sedition.
